Research Interests

Laura is a graduate student in the psychological science program at TMU and joined the PASER Lab in June 2022. She is interested in studying how statistical literacy, attitudes towards statistics, self-efficacy in learning statistics, and statistics anxiety vary among post-secondary students at different degree levels and in different fields of study. Her master’s thesis focused on developing a short-form version of the Basic Literacy In Statistics (BLIS-3) assessment (Ziegler, 2014) using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Item Response Theory (IRT). When she's not PhD-ing, you can find Laura perfecting her chocolate chip cookie recipe, taking a last-minute road trip, or curating an overly specific themed playlist.

Research Interests

Johanna is a graduate student in the psychological science program at TMU and joined the PASER Lab in June 2023. She is particularly passionate about statistics education and researching how people communicate and interpret statistics and data. For her MA thesis, she examined patterns in the quantity, quality, and accessibility of data visualisations used to depict change. Outside of the lab, you are most likely to find Johanna outdoors, preferably climbing, camping, or trying to keep her garden alive.
